Ali Al-Hamadi and Jake Reeves guide Wimbledon to victory
Notts County slipped out of the automatic promotion spots as they lost 4-2 to AFC Wimbledon in a breathtaking encounter.
Braces from Ali Al-Hamadi and Jake Reeves take the Dons to within a point of the play-offs.
The visitors were left to rue defensive lapses, having initially pulled level through Macaulay Langstaff and Aaron Nemane.
A quiet opening 30 minutes were suddenly ignited when Reeves opened the scoring from the spot before a lively Al-Hamadi rounded Sam Slocombe to double it.
The Magpies keeper soon made amends denying both Al-Hamadi and Josh Davison as the hosts repeatedly broke their opponents’ offside trap.
The visitors responded well after the break, Dan Crowley winning possession and feeding Langstaff who finished clinically.
Only six minutes later Nemane was afforded ample time to control a floated corner and fire home the leveller.
Despite being under heavy pressure, the hosts re-took the lead in the 86th minute as skipper Reeves blasted home another penalty.
Before the electric Al-Hamadi sprinted clear on the break and sealed the points for the Dons in injury time.
