Andy Woodman: It’s another bit of history for Bromley
Andy Woodman hailed Bromley’s 2-1 comeback victory at Solihull as “another bit of history” as his side booked their place in the FA Cup third round for the very first time.
Conor Wilkinson opened the scoring for the home side inside the first 10 minutes before Omar Sowumni and Danny Imray scored for Bromley to complete the comeback.
Woodman said: “I think we can safely say it wasn’t an FA Cup classic, it was horrendous.
“It’s all about the result for both teams. We caught them on a day where they had some big players out and didn’t need that.
“We huffed and puffed, we were pretty poor first half, pretty flat I thought, we couldn’t really get to grips with the game.
“Second half we changed the shape, looked a bit more of a threat, but it’s just all about the result and nobody will probably remember this when the draw is being made on Monday, so that’s the most important thing.
“It’s another bit of history.
“I’ve got a group of players who like doing that, they actually take it quite seriously that they want to change the landscape of this football club and they’re doing that.
“It’s good for the fans and it’s good for Bromley as a community.”
Andrew Whing spoke of his frustration after Solihull missed the chance to book a place in round three for the first time in their history against the side they lost the National League play-off final to last season.
Whing said: “It sums up our whole season really. I thought we played really well in parts, moved the ball really well, started the game really well.
“I thought we scored a really good goal and the inexperience kind of showed towards the end, two individual errors, we switch off from a free-kick and then a bit of naivety for the second goal.
“It’s frustrating. If they had carved us open and scored good goals against us you hold your hands up and go ‘well played’, but we’re giving silly goals away, we have done all season when we’ve been playing reasonably well, so it’s really frustrating.
“This week we’ve lost three games and probably been the better team in all three but we’ve left points out there and now we’re out the cup because of it.”
