Andy Woodman pleased to see Bromley get what they deserve

Andy Woodman expressed his delight as his Bromley side returned to winning ways with a comprehensive 4-0 Sky Bet League Two victory over strugglers Accrington.
A first half goal from Cameron Congreve was added to by a second half penalty brace by Michael Cheek and a Ben Thompson goal as the Ravens romped to a convincing home victory.
Boss Woodman said “We haven’t got our rewards in the last few games so it was good today to finally get what we have been threatening to do.
“However you can’t build a house without the right foundations, every successful team I have been involved with has been resilient at the back, knows how to grind out results and keep clean sheets. If you do that you will always create chances at the other end.
He added: “I thought Omar Sowunmi and Deji Elerewe were faultless today. Cameron Congreve added another goal to his tally and has taken on board what I’ve wanted from him and he will go on to have a brilliant career.
“Michael Cheek continues doing what he has always done for us, he is our lower league Teddy Sheringham.”
The game took a while to spark into life and it was Cheek who provided the first moment of genuine quality, volleying Congreve’s cross on to the underside of the Accrington crossbar.
Bromley took the lead on the half hour. Adam Mayor’s free-kick fell to the midfielder and he drilled a low shot in for his fifth goal of the season.
Both Cheek and Imray went close before the interval, forcing good reaction stops from Billy Crellin, as the hosts made all the running in the first half.
Bromley doubled their lead 10 minutes after the restart, Cheek smashing home his 20th goal of the season from the penalty spot after Faz Rawson was adjudged to have handled the ball.
Thompson made it three with his stooping header at the back post before Cheek scored his second penalty of the game after Devon Matthew handled in the area.
Accrington boss John Doolan said, “It was a very tough watch, it was a no-show.
“I couldn’t put my finger on it. We didn’t play at all. It was below the standards I have set and the last two games have not been us.
“We have been keeping clean sheets and the last two games we have conceded four in both. I have to be accountable for that.
“I’m not interested in what other clubs have done, we need to take care of ourselves and that is all that matters, that is our pressure and we have to deal with that.
“It is the job of all the players and my coaching staff. We didn’t play well. We didn’t clear our lines properly but we will be better next week, of that I am certain.”
