Vanarama National League leaders Barnet took another step towards promotion as they continued their winning streak with a 1-0 victory at Altrincham.

Rhys Browne scored with a header in the 44th minute, seven minutes after Regan Linney had headed against the bar for the hosts.

Seeing out an eighth successive win, Dean Brennan’s men, undefeated in 24 matches, go 14 points clear of second-placed York – beaten 2-1 at Braintree earlier on Saturday – having played a game more.

It was a fifth consecutive loss for Phil Parkinson’s Altrincham, now lying ninth in the table, two points outside the play-off places.
