National League leaders Barnet took a huge step towards promotion after securing a 3-1 victory at Sutton.

A three-game winless run had seen their comfortable advantage chipped away by chasing York, meaning this game had huge significance.

And Mark Shelton opened the scoring for the visitors when he fired past Jack Sims into the bottom corner in the seventh minute.

Siju Odelusi drew the sides level with a penalty in the 33rd minute after Barnet were charged with a handball.

Sutton were down to 10 men after Tyler French was dismissed seven minutes into the second half, giving away a penalty in the process, and Shelton stepped up to restore Barnet’s lead from the spot.

Adebola Oluwo nodded home a cushion nine minutes from time, meaning Barnet have a six point lead with two games to go.
