Blackpool and Northampton fail to impress in goalless draw
Blackpool and Northampton battled out a dour 0-0 draw at Bloomfield Road in Sky Bet League One.
It was a game of few big chances as both sides pushed themselves four points clear of the relegation zone.
Blackpool goalkeeper Richard O’Donnell was called into action to keep out Sam Hoskins’ drive early on.
Rob Apter had the hosts’ first chance but he could only fire straight at Lee Burge.
Tyler Roberts latched onto Samy Chouchane’s ball over the top and found the side-netting.
Seasiders’ striker Jordan Rhodes should have done better when he nodded wide on the stroke of half-time.
After the break, Benjamin Fox saw his header well stopped by O’Donnell.
O’Donnell frustrated Fox once again as he rose highest to meet Chouchane’s cross with 10 minutes to go.
Burge pulled off the save of the game when he kept out Hayden Coulson’s deflected strike after being wrong-footed in the closing stages.
However, Apter squandered a glorious chance to steal it for the hosts when he missed when clean through at the end.
