Boston grabbed a crucial 3-0 victory over play-off chasing Southend to take themselves within a whisker of exiting the National League relegation zone.

Goals from Frankie Maguire, Jimmy Knowles and Zak Mills lifted them two places to 21st, level with Dagenham as they wrestle for survival.

The opening period was an even affair but the visitors took the initiative after the interval, Maguire cracking the first after 50 minutes before Knowles finished off a sharp counter seven minutes later.

The Shrimpers slipped further behind through Mills before seeing their best attempt at a consolation when Josh Walker’s effort was ruled out for offside.
