Sutton continued their fine start to the National League season following relegation as Charlie Waller’s early strike helped them to a 1-0 win at Wealdstone.
Waller pounced on a loose ball inside the box to send a looping finish into the net after only 11 minutes, an excellent finish as the visitors won for the second time in three games since dropping out of League Two.
For Wealdstone it was their third defeat of the campaign as they slipped into the relegation zone, but they were unlucky not to steal a point late on, goalkeeper Steve Arnold producing a fine save before Micah Obiero fired over the bar with the goal at his mercy.
The win for Sutton saw Steve Morison’s team climb to third in their bid for an immediate English Football League return.
