Promotion-chasing Chesterfield ended a four-match losing sequence by coming from behind to claim a 1-1 draw at mid-table Aldershot.

The Spireites’ dismal run had seen them slip off the pace in the Vanarama National League and they fell behind here as Jake Hutchinson raced on to a long ball and coolly finished in the 20th minute.

But Chesterfield were level seconds after the break, with Paul McCallum marking his debut by scoring on the rebound after his initial effort from Ryheem Sheckleford’s cross clattered the bar.

McCallum could have doubled his and Chesterfield’s tally but poked wide after being put clean through while Tim Akinola saw a late shot saved by Aldershot goalkeeper Luca Ashby-Hammond as the points were shared.
