Birmingham boss Chris Davies urged his table-topping side to avoid becoming complacent after admitting they could rightly be proud after continuing their excellent form with a 1-0 League One victory away to Huddersfield.
Keshi Anderson’s 49th-minute wonder-strike earned Birmingham the win to extend their cushion to third-placed Wrexham to 10 points with two games still in hand.
Davies said: “I thought it was a great win for us. We wanted to come here and get a result and I think we were very, very good in the first half. We could have been two, three goals up with the sort of situations we were creating.
“The message at half-time was to continue on doing what was working well and just to continue to do that and believe that that would result in a goal.
“I don’t think we gave much away defensively and I spoke about the need for real quality and moments in games and Keshi Anderson has produced a high-quality technical action to get us in front.
“We had to see the game out and defend a lot of long balls and set pieces and we did that well.
“What I’ve found in this league is you can look at the names and the venues but every game is going to be tough.
“We need to continue doing what we’re doing and not rest on our laurels, but we’re very pleased with the week we’ve had coming here and going to Wrexham.”
Meanwhile, Huddersfield boss Michael Duff was left to rue that the crucial match-winning moment in a tight game that ended up going the opposition’s way.
He said: “It was a tight game and one moment of quality wins them the game. I don’t think our keeper’s had a save to make in the game.
“But we just didn’t have the quality and were playing too slow. I’ve just seen their goal again and they’ve taken the throw-in quickly and worked it across the face of the box and we just didn’t do that, I’m not sure why.
“I didn’t think there was much in the game and if one of our players had smashed the ball into the top corner from 25 yards and we’d won 1-0, I think Chris would be sitting here saying the same thing.
“We’re in a funny spell at the moment with a lot of players coming back from injury, so we’re trying to get people fit on the job while playing good teams.
“I think we’re come out of the window a stronger team than when we went into the window, but I think we also feel we squeezed every little bit out of them before the January transfer window.”
