Josh Rees fired relegation-threatened Dagenham and Redbridge to a first National League win in 14 attempts at play-off chasing Halifax.

Town enjoyed the better start with Jack Evans’ sliced cross almost wrong-footing keeper Louis Jones and Josh Emmanuel curling a left-foot shot just wide.

But Daggers went in ahead at the break after Harry Phipps headed Oscar Rutherford’s cross on to Rees to sweep home.

Zak Emmerson headed just wide from a Florent Hoti cross and Emmanuel tested Jones as the hosts looked for a way back into the game.

Luca Thomas sent a long-range effort over and Jones saved from Emmanuel, substitute Jamie Cooke and Festus Arthur amid a late flurry as the visitors held out to secure a first league victory since New Year’s Day.
