Bromley boss Andy Woodman described his side’s 2-1 win over Accrington as a “disgusting game with no quality”.

Storm Darragh made the conditions tricky, but the Ravens secured their second successive league win to move up to 14th place.

Top-scorer Michael Cheek slotted home his 11th goal of the season after seven minutes following great play from Cameron Congreve to give Bromley the lead.

A Ben Woods shot evaded everyone two minutes later to go in off the far post for the equaliser, but Idris Odutayo’s 63rd-minute free kick, which bounced once before finding the back of the net, won it for the visitors.

“It was tough for both teams. It was a horribly windy, disgusting game with no quality for either team,” said Woodman.

“The game could have gone either way, it was a lottery.

“We defended quite well when we had to, but neither side created much, but the headline is we got a win and that’s the most important thing.

“Idris will tell you he had worked on that, but the staff have been doing a lot of work on set-pieces and we are getting our rewards. They can be the difference, particularly on days like today.

“There wasn’t anything to say about the game other than we came away with three points and it’s probably a game we will never watch back again.”

Bromley have won three games in a week and secured an FA Cup third-round tie at Newcastle.

“It’s a great week being a Bromley manager, supporter or just involved with Bromley,” Woodman added.

“We are up the table so that gives everyone a bit of confidence. That’s one loss in 11 games, I am quite happy with that.”

Stanley are four points off the bottom two and manager John Doolan said: “The conditions spoilt the game and they played them better than we did.

“We are disappointed to lose the game, our decision-making was poor. We had the wind in the first half and we should have had more shots. We lacked quality and we didn’t use the elements when we should have.

“I can never question our effort and attitude, but we didn’t do enough, we knew how to hurt them and we found a way to lose the game.

“But we have to stay together and move on as it’s a busy period in December.

“It’s only our second home loss of season, but that’s the only positive we can take out of the game.”
