Don Cowie dedicated Ross County’s 3-0 victory over Dundee at Dens Park to the club’s travelling support.
Three goals without reply from Noah Chilvers, Josh Nisbet and Jordan White secured the Staggies’ first Premiership away win since September 2023.
The fans who had made the long trip celebrated wildly at the final whistle and boss Cowie felt it was no more than they deserved.
He said: “I am delighted to get the win and the manner of the win. We looked a real threat as the game went on.
“More importantly, I am delighted for our supporters. For 15 months, they have travelled across the country supporting us and we’ve not won away from home in the league in that period.
“We’ve not given our supporters anywhere near enough, not enough to cheer away from home.
“We enjoyed the moment with our fans and to show our appreciation for the support and logistically what they do to come and support our football club.
“Hopefully they go home really happy.”
In contrast, devastated Dundee boss Tony Docherty apologised to the home fans.
The manager is looking for a big response when his team travels to St Mirren on Sunday.
He said: “Hugely disappointing. We came up against a Ross County side who had a game plan to sit in against us and allow us to have the ball, and we just didn’t do enough with the ball.
“The quality wasn’t there. I’m really, really disappointed.
“I still feel we should have done so much more in possession of the ball to hurt Ross County.
“It really surprised me, that result today.
“It’s important we analyse that as a group tomorrow, because Sunday at St Mirren is a big game, a difficult game. We need to respond to that and bounce back.
“To be fair to them, we’ve had that all season. Anytime we’ve had a setback, we’ve responded well to that.
“So, it’s important we keep that in our make-up, in our DNA, that we do analyse things honestly as a group, not just the players. The players, myself, the staff, and see what we could have done better and we make sure we go again.
“I apologise to the fans. I didn’t see that result coming. But the only way we can repair it is by making sure our next home game, the Derby, is by doing better and winning a derby for the fans.”
