Doncaster manager Grant McCann was concerned only with collecting the 1-0 win after admitting his side were below par against Harrogate.
Rovers dominated possession for much of the game, but it was the visitors who had the better opportunities in front of goal.
Harry Clifton came off the bench to score an 86th-minute winner and while frustrated with some aspects of the overall performance, McCann was delighted with the result as Rovers look to secure an automatic promotion place.
“It’s another good win for us and against a team that is very difficult to beat,” he said. “They’re tough to break down and that is credit to Simon Weaver and his team.
“For us, I feel we got our just rewards. There’s been multiple times this season where we have played better than that and not got the win – I think back to the Notts County game where we had 20-odd shots, Bromley and Cheltenham.
“We got our rewards in this one for the hard work, our togetherness, for limiting them to very few chances.
“At this stage of the season, it’s just important that we get the win. Of course we all want to play better, create more chances and look better on the eye but those are things we will keep working on.
The three points are the most important and we’re delighted to come away with that.”
Harrogate boss Simon Weaver threw his support behind goalkeeper James Belshaw after his error cost the Sulphurites a share of the spoils at Doncaster.
Belshaw looked to have Clifton’s shot covered but allowed the ball to squirm under him and give Rovers the win.
Weaver was quick to his defence and said the keeper has saved his side far more than he has cost them.
“He’s been superb in both of his spells at the football club and saved us so many points over so many years and the last thing I would do is go in after the game and berate him and undermine his confidence,” Weaver said.
“He’ll have to dust himself down because it’s the life of a goalkeeper and happens to the best of them. He’s so talented and carries himself brilliantly and he will come back as strong as ever.”
Weaver felt Harrogate deserved at least a point from the trip. He said: “I really feel for the players coming away with nothing because, overall, we were looking good for at least a point.
“I looked at the clock on 81 minutes and felt it was heading towards 0-0. There had been no real moments where I’d felt concerned and we had done everything right in terms of frustrating Doncaster with a stubborn away performance.”
