An Ethon Archer strike compounded more misery on lowly Carlisle as Cheltenham won 1-0 at Brunton Park.
The Robins took the lead through Archer after a mistake from Carlisle goalkeeper Harry Lewis and had plenty of chances to put the game to bed in the first half.
But they had to weather a Carlisle storm in the second half to secure all three points.
Cheltenham went ahead in the 17th minute after an error from Lewis, with Archer’s shot being spilled and somehow finding its way into the net.
The visitors were firmly on top after the opener and Lewis made another error from a free-kick but Sam Stubbs fired over from close range as Michael Flynn’s side chased a second.
There was more woe for the Blues just after half-time when substitute Charlie Wyke was stretchered off after a heavy tackle from Luke Young.
However, after the lengthy delay, the Cumbrians were on top and Harrison Biggins missed a glorious chance to pick up a precious point.
