Fleetwood boss Charlie Adam hailed a good point for his side as they came back from a goal down to rescue a 1-1 draw at home to Accrington.
Adam’s side fell behind to a Sonny Aljofree cross-shot in the first half but fought back well to snatch a draw courtesy of Ryan Broom’s header.
Adam said: “I’m happy enough that we got a reaction from the players in the second period. We were too laboured in the first half and weren’t moving the ball so we made those changes at half-time and they were ultimately what got us back into the game.
“We fought back well and pushed back on Accrington and got the goal. In the end it’s a good point.
“A point gained from a losing position.
“To finish the second half the better side was encouraging and it gives us some momentum which is important after back-to-back defeats and it gives us a positive heading into Saturday.”
Adam was keen to stress that his side are a work in progress.
He added: “We’re taking our time and perhaps we’ve started a little slow but we are working hard and today we had to show a different side to us. It can’t always just be playing around teams.
“We adapted and we got in their faces so I’m really pleased with that side of our game and the way we’ve reacted to going behind in what was a poor first half from us.”
Accrington boss John Doolan felt his side should have left Highbury with all three points from the game.
He said: “We should have been out of sight at half-time, it’s as simple as that. We should’ve won the game but the game doesn’t finish at half-time. We play for 90 minutes and if we don’t do that then we can’t expect to turn performances into results.
“You have to sustain as much high press as you can, we didn’t stop them in the wide areas and the centre of the area and stop their crosses and ultimately it’s cost us and they’ve got a reward of a point.”
Doolan also suggested his team must get better at using the ball to take advantage when they are on top in games.
He added: “We didn’t take enough advantage again in terms of the way we use the ball when we have it. We have to learn to pass it better and particularly in the second half we didn’t do enough with it. We have to win it and play into wide areas where we can hurt them and we aren’t doing enough of that.”
