What the papers say
Steven Gerrard is reportedly facing the sack from his managerial role at Saudi Pro League club Al-Ettifaq. According to The Sun, the 44-year-old is under fire following a string of poor form, culminating in a shock cup exit to a second division side on Wednesday.
Metro says Ruben Amorim’s impending switch from Sporting Lisbon to Manchester United has had a ripple effect on several members of Sporting’s playing group, including Viktor Gyokeres. The Telegraph reports Newcastle are weighing up a move for Brentford forward Bryan Mbeumo. Football Insider says the Cameroon international’s price tag is £60million, which could be out of the Magpies’ price range.
