Charlie McCann scored an added-time winner as Forest Green beat Altrincham 2-1 in the National League.

The Gloucestershire side forged ahead after 20 minutes through Christian Doidge’s composed effort from the edge of the area, his fourth goal of the campaign.

Altrincham drew level in the 83rd minute with a deflected strike from George Wilson, raising the visitors’ hopes of gaining at least a point.

However, four minutes into added time McCann curled in the winner after bringing a Doidge header under control inside the box.
