Gateshead secured back-to-back wins in the Vanarama National League with a 3-1 triumph at Southend.

The visitors started strongly and took a 12th-minute lead through Jacob Butterfield but the Shrimpers levelled with a deflected strike from captain Gus Scott-Morriss before the interval.

Gateshead regained the lead seven minutes into the second half after Collin Andeng-Ndi brought down Owen Oseni and Luke Hannant converted the resulting penalty.

Josh Walker and George Moncur went close to equalising for the hosts, while Butterfield almost scored another when he hit the bar, but a Ben Radcliffe header made sure for Gateshead.
