FA Trophy finalists Gateshead and Dorking both guaranteed safety with a 0-0 draw in the National League.

Dorking goalkeeper Dan Lincoln made a fine 20th-minute save to repel Ed Francis’ 20th-minute free-kick as the home side enjoyed the better of the first half.

Indeed, had Marcus Dinanga managed to get either of two headers on target after being set up by Stephen Wearne on both occasions, they might have headed in at the break with a lead.

It took a fine challenge from Tony Craig to deny Dinanga three minutes after the restart, and Lincoln came to the rescue in the 68th minute to block substitute Greg Olley’s close-range attempt before Dan Gallagher cleared Dinanga’s follow-up off the line.

Neither side could make the breakthrough as the game ended goalless, but results from elsewhere guaranteed fifth-tier football for both clubs for another season.
