Halifax strengthened their claim on a play-off place as they swept aside Sutton 3-0 on their own turf.

Chris Millington’s Shaymen took control of the game in the opening seconds, with less than a minute on the clock when Zak Emmerson found himself in the right place and nodded home from close range.

Former Kosovo Under-21 international Florent Hoti then imposed himself, his free-kick setting up Adam Senior’s header midway through the first half to put his side well on course.

And Hoti then notched the third himself with a well-placed effort from distance with 56 minutes on the clock.
