He was magnificent – Lincoln boss Michael Skubala delighted with Jack Moylan
Lincoln manager Michael Skubala praised midfielder Jack Moylan as they avoided a banana skin at Chesham with a 4-0 win.
The 23-year-old opened the scoring with an excellent strike to help set up a second-round clash at Crawley.
Further goals from Jovon Makama, Conor McGrandles and an own goal from Callum Adebiyi sent the Sky Bet League One side through.
However, it was the contribution of Moylan, who received the man-of-the-match award, which pleased Skubala.
He said: “Jack can go left or right, he scores from the edge of the box there, we really like him cutting on to his right and scored a great goal. I thought he was magnificent.
“We knew it would be really tough, we knew that these are challenging places to come, how passionate they would be.
“I thought they started the game really brightly, but after 10 to 15 minutes we started to get control of the game.
“From there on we played a really professional game, which was pleasing.”
Moylan showed good control in the area to curl his effort past the outstretched Ben Goode to open before the break.
Makama broke the offside trap three minutes after the interval to effectively seal the tie, before a McGrandles shot deflected home for the third.
A deflection off Adebiyi following a clearance from keeper Goode for Lincoln’s fourth was perhaps cruel on Chesham, but joint manager Michael Murray was proud of his side’s showing.
He said: “We’re obviously bitterly disappointed, but at the same time very proud of our team.
“We’ve done extremely well to get where we have, for the second year on the trot.
“When you’re the big underdog you need that little bit of luck.
“I was very disappointed that we conceded just before half-time, but in the second half they took over.”
