Jack Barham fired Aldershot’s second-half equaliser as they held promotion-chasers Gateshead to a 2-2 draw at the International Stadium.

Gateshead defender Robbie Tinkler rattled the crossbar with a 35-yard effort before Aldershot took an 11th-minute lead through Josh Barrett, who converted Barham’s cross.

The home side hit back eight minutes later when Owen Oseni headed an equaliser at the far post and Callum Whelan turned home a rebound, after Jacob Butterfield’s shot had been saved, to put Gateshead 2-1 up.

Both sides continued to create chances in the second half and Shots drew level in the 58th minute when Barham smashed home a rebound after James Henry’s initial effort had been saved.
