Captain Jamie Grimes scored a late header as Chesterfield beat visiting Barrow 1-0.
Half-time substitute Grimes netted in the 89th minute to seal a first home win in Sky Bet League Two since early September for Paul Cook’s side.
After the driving rain had made for an uneventful start, Ben Jackson struck a free-kick into the Chesterfield wall before Chris Stokes’ cross was headed wide by Charlie Kirk.
Barrow goalkeeper Paul Farman raced off his line to prevent James Berry putting the Spireites in front, smothering well from the winger.
Former Chesterfield loanee Andy Dallas struck a post after flicking a long ball from Farman towards goal.
Dilan Markanday almost broke the deadlock seven minutes into the second half, with Farman tipping his powerful effort onto the bar.
Paddy Madden skimmed the roof of the net with a curled strike from range before volleying wide from a corner.
The match looked destined to end goalless, until centre-back Grimes powered the ball past Farman with one minute remaining.
