Debutant Joe Dodoo scored from the penalty spot to claim a point for Solihull against the 10 men of play-off hunting Altrincham.

The striker’s short-term deal was only announced a matter of hours before he stepped up from 12 yards to secure a 1-1 draw.

Tom Crawford’s dogged retrieval work helped set Regan Linney free and the prolific Altrincham forward did the rest, cutting in from a wide position and firing an impressive strike into the top corner to open the scoring.

The lead lasted until the 52nd minute, Robbie Cundy winning a penalty and Dodoo taking the responsibility for his new club.

Justin Amaluzor’s dismissal left the visitors a man up for half-an-hour but they could not make it pay.
