Accrington manager John Doolan praised goalkeeper Billy Crellin after his penalty heroics in a 4-1 shoot-out win over Swindon.
In an action-packed FA Cup tie, which finished 2-2 after extra-time, Stanley took the lead on 17 minutes when Tyler Walton fired home.
Swindon’s Danny Butterworth saw red on 41 minutes for a high tackle on Liam Coyle but the Robins levelled in the second minute of first-half added time when Grant Hall headed home.
Swindon were then awarded a penalty but Crellin pushed out Harry Smith’s spot-kick on 63 minutes.
Despite being a man down, Swindon went ahead after 70 minutes as substitute Joel Cotterill curled the ball home.
However, in the first minute of added time, Walton pounced to take the game into extra-time.
Crellin saved two of Swindon’s spot-kicks before Nelson Khumbeni fired home the winning penalty.
Doolan said: “Billy was outstanding, I am so proud of him, he made the saves and got us through to the next round.
“All that matters to me is that we are in the hat. I felt we were rusty from not having played last weekend and it was difficult against 10 men, you have got to give them credit.
“Tyler Walton was brilliant as well. He has come from non-league, got his bit between his teeth and there is more in him.
“We get the prize money, the big boys come in in the next round and everyone is happy at the club.”
Counterpart Ian Holloway, who took over Swindon a month ago, felt there were plenty of positives despite the defeat.
He said: “I thought that was our best performance since I have been here. We were down to 10 men but I thought we were terrific.
“I can’t fault our performance, we created chances with 10 men and scored two with 10 men and if you ask their manager he is relieved. Their goalie saved three out of four penalties in one match.
“We have got to take the good bits out of it and there were far more goods bits than bad even though we are out of the cup.”
