Falkirk extended their lead at the summit of the Scottish Championship to eight points with a 4-0 victory over Queen’s Park at Hampden Park.

Liam Henderson opened the scoring shortly before the interval with Gary Oliver, Calvin Miller and Tom Lang putting the result beyond doubt in the second half.

On a good day for Falkirk, Ayr lost further ground on the pacesetters with a 2-0 defeat to Partick Thistle at Firhill Stadium.

Logan Chalmers and Luke McBeth fired the Jags 2-0 ahead inside the opening half-hour and the goals were enough to sweep them over the finishing line.

Ayr dropped to third after Livingston fought out a 3-3 draw with Airdrie at Excelsior Stadium that lifted them into second.

It was 2-2 heading into the final 15 minutes but Livingston took the lead for the first time in the game only for Liam McStravick to equalise five minutes from time.

Greenock Morton secured a second successive win after late strikes from Cameron Keay and Ali Crawford inflicted a 2-0 defeat on Hamilton at the SuperSeal Stadium.
