Manchester City’s Champions League hopes were dealt another blow as they twice let slip the lead to draw 2-2 at home against Brighton.

Goals from Erling Haaland and Omar Marmoush were cancelled out by a superb Pervis Estupinan free-kick and Abdukodir Khusanov’s own goal as the champions endured more frustration at the Etihad Stadium.

Nico Gonzalez hit the post as Pep Guardiola’s side chased a late winner but Brighton, who have never won away against City, had spurned their own gilt-edged chance when Carlos Baleba shot over.

Anthony Elanga struck twice as Nottingham Forest stepped up their top-four challenge with a comfortable 4-2 win at Ipswich.

Nikola Milenkovic fired Forest into a first-half lead and Elanga scored twice before the break to put the visitors in control.

Jens Cajuste reduced the deficit for Ipswich before Forest regained a three-goal cushion through Jota Silva’s late effort. George Hirst completed the scoring for the home side in the closing minutes.

Jake O’Brien’s last-gasp equaliser secured Everton a 1-1 draw with West Ham and extended the Toffees’ unbeaten Premier League run to nine games.

The Hammers took a second-half lead with a fine goal from Tomas Soucek and time looked to have run out for Everton before defender O’Brien headed home in the 90th minute to earn David Moyes a point against his former side.

Jorgen Strand Larsen’s double secured Wolves a 2-1 win at bottom club Southampton and ensured his side took a huge step in confirming their Premier League status.

The Celta Vigo loanee took his tally for the season to nine as Wolves moved nine points clear of third-bottom Ipswich.

Southampton, who pulled a goal back through Paul Onuachu, remain on nine points, with Derby’s record low total of 11 in a single campaign still under threat.
