Andy Cook’s long-range wonder goal drew praise from both managers after Bradford’s 2-1 win over Port Vale.
Cook scored twice in the 2-1 victory at Valley Parade – taking him to 100 EFL goals.
His first after three minutes flew in from 30 yards and had bosses Graham Alexander and Darren Moore raving about its quality.
Bradford manager Alexander said: “It’s something we encourage all the time to be positive and just go for it.
“Goals like that stay in the memory for everyone for years. It won’t just be Cooky thinking about it, the supporters will and I will.
“I enjoyed it. That’s what you want to come to football matches for to see things like that and it was unbelievable strike.”
Opposite number Moore said: “That’s a wonderful goal to score at any level whether it’s the Premier League or any division. He took it early and it’s an individual bit of brilliance that knocked us back.
“It was a brilliant strike and probably their goal of the season. We’re not even halfway through and I bet he won’t score a better one.”
Antwoine Hackford’s half-volley equalised soon after half-time but Cook struck again when he headed in Richie Smallwood’s free-kick.
Port Vale stay second but have now gone six games without a win. Midfielder Tom Sang was also sent off in stoppage time for elbowing Antoni Sarcevic.
Moore added: “We regained our composure and battled back into the game. We settled down in front of a large crowd and I thought we gained more impetus.
“We had a really positive second half and it was a great finish from Antwoine.
“To get undone by a set-play was really disappointing. We’ve got a lot of height in the team but just didn’t deal with it.
“I thought we pinned them in but then we got the sending off late in the game and that was it for us.”
Alexander was delighted with Bradford’s response to losing 3-0 at Notts County five days earlier as they moved up to 10th.
He added: “We had a few questions to answer from last week and that five-minute spell that cost us dearly.
“In general terms, we tried to put the performance in context so they could go into this game confident.
“The first goal galvanised everyone and it was a really strong first-half performance. Their goal from a long throw was disappointing but it’s a great strike from the guy.
“But the response was fantastic. The crowd stayed with us and got louder after the equaliser and I thought we were really good on all the little details that win games.
“Cooky has come up with two moments of pure quality to help us win the game.”
