Mansfield halted visiting Stockport’s 100 per cent start to the new season with a battling 1-1 draw.
Stockport started confidently and good footwork from Jayden Fevrier saw him get into the box on the right after just three minutes and smash a rising shot against the underside of the bar, with the officials deciding it had not crossed the line.
Instead the Stags settled and took a 22nd-minute lead as Lucas Akins squared the ball for Hiram Boateng to bury a powerful shot through a crowd of players from 20 yards.
But the visitors were level on 37 minutes.
Callum Camps put in a cross from the left which saw Christy Pym make a great save to keep out Fraser Horsfall’s header, only to see Kyle Wootton pop up to head in the loose ball from close range.
Corey Addai smothered a near-post finish by Lee Gregory soon after the break, while Pym denied Louis Barry on a Stockport breakaway.
Camps almost conjured up a winner after 73 minutes as he took possession just inside the home half and raced forward unchallenged before sending his low finish inches wide with the keeper beaten.
In stoppage time poor home defending let Fevrier set up Isaac Olaofe only to see him put his effort wide.
