Wycombe boss Matt Bloomfield hailed his history-makers after a 3-2 victory at Lincoln.
The high-flying Chairboys made it nine wins on the spin in all competitions for the first time since becoming a Football League club.
Tendayi Darikwa put the hosts ahead, but Wycombe — who saw Luke Leahy miss a second-half penalty — put themselves 3-1 up thanks to goals from Richard Kone, Cam Humphreys and Joe Low.
Darikwa’s second came too little too late as the Imps suffered a first league defeat in five.
After a seventh league win in a row Bloomfield, who side are four points clear at the League One summit, beamed: “To break those records and get ourselves another win, we’re extremely proud.
“The character of the players to keep believing in everything they do, keep believing in the process and keep playing the way they’re playing is brilliant.
“The character the lads are showing is first class. I’m really pleased with them.
“It’s the right time for me to thank our supporters. For them to come here in the wind and the rain with the trip and keep singing at 1-0 down was amazing.
“It radiated onto the players and shone through. They’re really backing us at the moment and I hope they’re enjoying the football they’re watching.
“I was disappointed with both goals against and we’ll have to look at those, but I’m really pleased with the group.
“It would have been nice to have been more comfortable. Those tight finishes aren’t good for my health.
“We made it a lot tighter and tougher for ourselves than we should have done.”
Michael Skubala believes his side were taught a lesson in terms of how to be ruthless in front of goal.
“They’re a really clinical team,” admitted Skubala. “That is, for me, why they’re top of the league.
“In the end it was two good teams having a ding dong. We both had a go.
“They were too clinical for us. They scored their chances when we should have done a bit better with ours.
“They’re the blueprint of what teams have to do to be good at this level. Their top line is very good, they’ve got quality and that’s why they’re top.
“We didn’t fear them. We got a punch on the nose to go in 2-1 down.
“We got sucker-punched and then got let off with one for the penalty.
“We maybe deserved to get a draw out of it, but we didn’t.
“We didn’t have enough with our finishing in the end.
“We were dominating the game a bit then we were chasing at 3-1 and ran out of time after getting the second.”
