Wycombe manager Matt Bloomfield believes his side did enough to win in the 0-0 draw at home to Bolton.

The Chairboys failed to register a league goal at Adams Park for the first time since April.

Luke Leahy, Jasper Pattenden, Richard Kone, Cameron Humphrys, Fred Onyedinma and Tyreeq Bakinson all had chances to score, but Nathan Baxter in the Trotters goal was on hand to make several important saves.

Down the other end, Franco Ravizzoli produced a stunning bloke to deny George Thomason in injury-time.

For Wycombe, they remain top, two points clear of second place Birmingham, but the two teams will swap places if the latter beat Crawley on December 23.

Bloomfield, who celebrates 21 years at Wycombe on Monday, said: “I thought we did enough to win the game as I thought we dominated and created the best opportunities.

“It’s the first time we haven’t scored in the league since April and we knew that record wasn’t going to last forever, but, I thought we were good.

“They didn’t have a shot on target between the 11th and 67th minutes as we were dominant, it’s just a shame we never got the goal we deserved.

“In terms of our identity, when you look back to our first game of the year at home to Bristol Rovers [on January 1], we were fantastic and I thought we were just as good today, but it’s a shame that we didn’t get the goal we wanted.

“When that happens, you need to keep the ball out and Franco had good hands at the end [to deny George Thomason] – he was very calm as we expect.

“We played some good stuff and I enjoyed the identity that we kept throughout this calendar year, and we want to finish that year very strongly.”

Bolton manager Ian Evatt was pleased with the clean sheet his team secured.

It was only the club’s fifth in 27 games in all competitions this season, and their first in two months.

He said: “My players gave me absolutely everything as they [Wycombe] are a very tough team to play against.

“They are very difficult – they have not changed much from Gaz’s [Gareth Ainsworth’s] although there is a bit more football, but still very physical, athletic and direct.

“They were strong at set plays and in transition but with the bodies that we have got out, the way we defended our box as a team I thought was magnificent.

“We’ve come here and kept a clean sheet against a team that score a lot of goals and I’m proud of the players.”
