Matty Stevens scored two goals in as many minutes as AFC Wimbledon beat Barrow 3-1 to record a first Sky Bet League Two away win since August 24.

Joe Pigott’s second-minute strike for the visitors was cancelled out shortly before half-time by fellow striker Andrew Dallas.

Respective goalkeepers Paul Farman and Owen Goodman kept the scores level with second-half saves from Dean Campbell and Josh Neufville.

Stoppage-time goals in recent fixtures against Notts County, Bromley and Colchester had contributed to Barrow’s fall from the early-season play-off places.

This time the Cumbrians’ defence cracked for a second time when Pigott assisted for Stevens to steal in and poke the ball beyond Farman after 76 minutes.

And victory was guaranteed when leading scorer Stevens was first to Neufville’s ball to claim his 10th goal of the campaign.

Wimbledon’s win lifted them above the Bluebirds, who are now winless in six league matches.
