Cheltenham boss Michael Flynn was left ruing a couple of missed chances in a goalless draw at Accrington.
Goalmouth action was few and far between in the game with only one shot on target – and that was a Kelsey Mooney header which was comfortable for Cheltenham keeper Joe Day.
The mid-table Robins created nine chances but captain Scot Bennett and Tom Bradbury were unable to find the target from close range with the best two.
Flynn said: “It’s a game we could have won and we should have won with the three chances we had.
“There was Scot’s header from about a yard, Tom Bradbury missed the target from five yards and George Miller should do better in the first half with his chance.
“It was a very scrappy game, there was a lot of effort and endeavour but not much quality.
“I am pleased with the clean sheet as this is a really tough place to come.
“Sam Stubbs and Scot Bennett were excellent and I don’t think Scot made a mistake. He won headers, he was covering and if he had scored he would have got my man of the match.
“Looking at it, it’s a long journey, we set off at 12pm and it’s a long old day as we won’t get back until 3am.
“For what the players performed on Saturday in a win over Salford, it’s a good couple of results.
“I will be happy with one more player in before the end of the window but I am hoping for two.”
The draw meant Stanley have only lost one League Two game in January, with three wins as well, and that moved them eight points clear of the bottom two.
Assistant manager Ged Brannan is in charge at the moment, with boss John Doolan missing due to a family bereavement.
Brannan said: “I thought our defending was brilliant, we won every second ball. I think we did everything right but score a goal.
“We haven’t created many chances but it was a good all-round performance, except obviously scoring.
“The lads have battled well. Cheltenham close you down and put pressure on you and we dealt with it really well.
“We have got to keep clean sheets to win games and we have got to keep defending like that and take that into Port Vale on Saturday.
“We put a big shift in on Saturday at Crewe and I brought four players on in the second half and we were fresh and pressing forward and I was just hoping for one chance to go in.
“All in all though I am quite happy with the point.”
