Lincoln City boss Michael Skubala felt his side’s 0-0 draw against Stevenage was “definitely something to build on”.

The Imps snapped their three-game losing streak over the festive period with a better performance at Sincil Bank.

But their galling goal drought stretched to 378 minutes, with Jovon Makama squandering a great chance from six yards to steal victory late on.

“We’re not creating enough,” admitted Skubala. “We’re not scoring enough. It feels like we’re snapping at it a bit.

“That’s not something that’s new, it’s been a theme of the season really.

“We’ve got finishing school, we’ve got training school to help the lads at the top of the pitch.

“We need to be better in front of goal. It’s that little bit of calmness. But let’s not forget these are young boys in front of goal.

“It felt more like us in the second half, we were more intense.

“We had a massive chance at the end, but that’s what happens when you’re low on confidence.

“For me, it’s definitely something to build on. I really liked the second half.

“I can’t knock their effort. I know these lads well. They’re trying really hard. There’s no doubt we’ve hit a bad spot.

“If we play with that effort like we did today we’ll get back to where we need to be.

“It’s disappointing not to get the three points, but that second half was more like us.”

It was a third goalless draw in five games for Boro, and boss Alex Revell quipped: “These (nil-nil draws) are becoming a bit of a habit, aren’t they?!”

But the former Stevenage striker was pleased with his side’s performance despite failing to get an all-important goal.

He added: “We’ve done everything well except from scoring a goal.

“We’ve controlled the game. I thought the guys who came in did really well. We’ve played some really good football.

“This period of games was about coming through injury free and picking up as many points as you possibly can.

“Our disappointments are obviously Northampton, we want to go there and win and we wanted to come here and win, but three clean sheets on the spin is a positive. But we do want to win games.

“We did everything right. We tried to win the game and that’s all you can ask.

“I’m really proud of the amount of effort the lads have put in during this gruelling period.”

When asked about potential incomings, Revell added: “We’re always looking. At the moment we’re having clubs looking at ours.

“We’re not a club that let players go. Our best players stay with us and get us to where we want to go. We’ll keep those players with us as long as we can to get the success we want here.”
