Mike Fondop scored his sixth goal in 10 Vanarama National League games as Oldham sustained their play-off push with a 1-0 victory over 10-man Dagenham at Boundary Park.

The Latics were the better side throughout the first half and took the lead in the 21st minute as Mark Kitching met Josh Lundstram’s cross, nodding the ball across goal for Fondop to head home before goalkeeper Elliot Justham could get to it.

Fondop headed just wide shortly after play resumed following half-time and the task of holding o nto the lead got a lot easier when Daggers midfielder Jake Hessenthaler was sent off in the 74th minute for going in late on Josh Kay.

The points were not safe until full-time, though, so Oldham kept pushing and Jesurun Uchegbulam arguably went closest to killing off the game with a late attempt that brought a superb save from Justham.
