Northampton cruised to a 3-0 victory over struggling Crawley at Sixfields.

A dominant first-half performance from the Cobblers was rewarded with a two-goal lead before a third just after the break secured back-to-back home wins.

Northampton wasted the game’s first big chance early on when Samy Chouchane sent Tyler Roberts through on goal and he rounded the goalkeeper but could only hit the side-netting from an acute angle.

The home side did take the lead on 16 minutes though as Chouchane took a short corner to Tariqe Fosu and he was afforded the time to take a touch and fire across the goalkeeper and into the bottom corner.

Jojo Wollacott denied Roberts with his legs but Northampton got their second on the half-hour and again it came from a corner, Mitch Pinnock’s deep delivery went in off Crawley defender Jay Williams at the back post.

Although Crawley dominated possession, all the threat continued to come from the home side and they wrapped up the points early in the second half when Pinnock swept into the top corner after Fosu’s cross broke kindly to him.
