High-flying Notts County inflicted a seventh Sky Bet League Two defeat of the season on Carlisle with a 2-0 win at Brunton Park.

Notts County took the lead early on when Alassana Jatta netted for the fourth time this season and Scott Robertson extended their lead just after the half-hour mark, which was enough to seal all three points for the Magpies.

Carlisle dominated the ball early on but the Cumbrians were caught cold when Jatta tapped home after latching on to an Alex Bass goal kick, which completely evaded Carlisle’s centre-backs.

The Magpies then extended their lead when Robertson scored his first goal for the club after Kellan Gordon pulled it back for the Scot to slot home after some brilliant build-up play from the excellent Dan Crowley.

Mike Williamson’s side had a chance to pull one back on the hour mark but Bass got his fingertips to a Cameron Harper header.

Jordan Jones had a shot cleared off the line and Harper hit the bar, but it was not to be for Carlisle as they suffered a fourth consecutive home league defeat.
