Oxford City secured their first-ever National League win in some style as they hammered Boreham Wood 4-0 at Marsh Lane.

Oxford, promoted via the National League South play-offs in May, had failed to win any of their opening five matches in the fifth tier of English football but spectacularly put that right on Monday.

The visitors arguably had the better of a goalless first half with Kwesi Appiah going close with a header, but City stormed to victory with four goals in the final 25 minutes.

Nya Kirby smashed in the first with a powerful low shot and Josh Parker doubled the lead with 15 minutes to go.

Olly Sanderson added a third five minutes later and substitute Zac McEachran wrapped up the win in the 86th minute, inflicting only Boreham Wood’s second defeat of the season.
