Plymouth remain second in Sky Bet League One after getting back to winning ways at Home Park as second-half goals from Ryan Hardie and Niall Ennis secured a 2-0 victory over Charlton.
Argyle have now won 15 and drawn one of their 17 home league games.
Hardie pounced as Charlton centre-back Luca Ness failed to control a bouncing ball in his own half.
Hardie raced on with the ball and clipped it over advancing keeper Ashley Maynard-Brewer in the first minute of the second half.
It took the Scottish striker’s tally to 16 goals and made up for a stoppage-time miss in the first half.
Argyle’s top scorer’s first angled shot was saved by Maynard-Brewer, and his follow-up was blocked on the line by Michael Hector with Hardie claiming handball.
Argyle increased their lead in the 87th minute when two of their substitutes combined to great effect.
Callum Wright crossed for striker Ennis to slot home and get the Green Army back on a winning track.
A break on the counter by Daniel Kanu resulted in a good cross in the 80th minute but Charlton’s attackers failed to pounce.
