Southend’s National League play-off push continued as they extended their unbeaten run with a 2-1 win at Eastleigh.

The Shrimpers grabbed the lead in the opening minute when Tom Hopper finished after a James Morton corner.

Gus Scott-Morriss then headed in his 17th goal of the season in first-half stoppage time, with the hosts pulling one back through Tyrese Shade 10 minutes into the second half.

Kevin Maher’s Southend, now nine National League games without defeat, moved to within a point of the play-off places while Kelvin Davis’ Eastleigh dropped to 11th.
