Sutton United scored twice in three second-half minutes to beat struggling Fylde 2-0 and move up to seventh in the Vanarama National League.

Ashley Nadesan made the breakthrough in the 67th minute, volleying Jack Wadham’s header past Ben Winterbottom.

Moments later on-loan Gillingham striker Nadesan turned provider, sliding a pass across goal for Will Davies to tap home.

The hosts were indebted to goalkeeper Jack Sims for their clean sheet after he produced an outstanding early save to deny Nick Haughton’s free-kick and then later in the first half tipped over another set-piece from the midfielder as Fylde suffered an eighth defeat in 11 matches.
