Gary O’Neil has been sacked as head coach of Wolves.
The PA news agency understands the Midlands club, who sit second-from-bottom in the Premier League after only picking up nine points from 16 games, are expecting to quickly appoint a replacement.
Here, PA takes a look at some of the contenders who could take over at Molineux.
Ole Gunnar Solskjaer
Solskjaer has been out of managerial work since being sacked as Manchester United boss in November 2021.
The former United striker was initially appointed on a caretaker basis at Old Trafford in December 2018 and won 14 from 19 games to earn the job permanently.
Solskjaer’s tenure saw United finish third in the Premier League in 2019-20 and as runners-up the following season, when they also lost the Europa League final on penalties.
The 51-year-old was at Molineux on Saturday as a guest of Ipswich boss Kieran McKenna for his side’s 2-1 win.
Graham Potter
Another manager readily available is Potter, who was sacked by Chelsea in April 2023.
The 49-year-old began his professional managerial career at Ostersund in Sweden and had a spell at Swansea before succeeding Chris Hughton at Brighton.
He had an impressive time on the south coast and led the Seagulls to a ninth-placed finish in the Premier League in his final full season at the helm.
A less successful spell at Chelsea followed, where he left after less than seven months in charge, and Potter has since been linked with other managerial roles including the England job and, more recently, Leicester.
David Moyes
Moyes has also been linked with various managerial vacancies since leaving West Ham at the end of last season.
The former Everton, Manchester United and Sunderland boss enjoyed four-and-a-half years in charge of the Hammers.
Moyes led West Ham to their first trophy in 43 years when they won the Conference League in 2023 and they finished ninth in the Premier League last season.
Carlos Corberan
Former Huddersfield boss Corberan is in charge of local rivals West Brom.
The Baggies were 23rd when he took charge in October 2022 but he quickly turned things around and the club missed the play-offs by just three points that season.
Corberan, a former assistant to Marcelo Bielsa at Leeds, led Albion to the play-off semi-finals in his first full campaign in charge and has them in the mix for a top-six spot again this term after 20 games.
Sergio Conceicao
The former Porto boss had been linked with Wolves following Bruno Lage’s departure in 2022.
Conceicao succeeded former Wanderers boss Nuno Espirito Santo at Porto and has won three league titles with the Portuguese outfit
He left the club at the end of last season following a third-placed finish in the Primeira Liga and they missed out on a spot in the Champions League quarter-finals after being beaten by Arsenal in a penalty shoot-out.
